Miniature Modeling is Fun, and Expensive
I am looking for stuff for Bennett and I to make really cool model landscaping. We thought of the idea when I went to his house and we thought we could take pictures of his Schleich figures of plastic French and British knights. He has horses and guys w/ axes and stuff, so we thought it would be really cool to take the pictures and put them on Virb.com. But, we wanted to make them kind of high quality sort of pictures, so we decided to go to Hobby Lobby and get miniature toy stuff like fake grass and trees and hills that people use for model train sets, except we didn't want to do trains, we wanted to do cool war scenes. We are still looking for some stuff like civil war figures and WWI and WWII figures and we found some good ones along w/ the fake grass, bushes, trees and even a hill. The sad thing is that everything costs so much. We came up w/ the idea before we made the "Modern Warfare" video, which is why we have the cool fake grass, sky, bushes and trees. One of the problems is to find a sky picture that would fit the size of the picture. Sheesh, it's kind of a lot of work, but it's really fun.

ReplyDeleteSounds like a great project. Many years ago my friend and I built a civil war reenactment for a movie we made with a famous battle between two ironclad ships, the Monitor and the Merrimack. My tip for you with sky is to use a white card with watercolor painting. It's quite easy to do and looks brilliant on video!
